Project information
World Water Forum Published: 25.2.2009.  

The World Water Forum is the largest water-related event in the world, organised once every 3 years by the World Water Council and the authorities of the host country.

The 3 main objectives of the Water Forum are to:
- Make water a priority in the political and economic agenda worldwide;
- Facilitate and encourage in-depth debates on major water issues;
- Generate political commitment and bring the public’s attention to these commitments.

The 5th World Water Forum will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 16 to 22 March 2009. A variety of events throughout the week will aim to focus on just one overarching theme: “Bridging Divides for Water”.

Mr Stephan von Keitz, project's RTA and Senta Berner will participate as a part of Croatian delegation on the  Water forum:

Our project has organized together with the Turkish twinning project a side event on the Forum. The event “EU Funded Capacity Building and Integrated River Basin Management” will take place on 17 March in the Sutluce/Haskoy Hall, from 14.30 till 16.30 hrs.

Additionally, Mr. von Keitz will hold 2 presentations as part of German delegation:

  1. presentation on "Twinning as an instrument of cross-border cooperation in water sector" will be held on Wednesday, 18. March 2009 at 15.30
  2. presentation on "Environmental policy- priority setting on the example of the WFD and UWWTD" will be held on Friday, 20. March 2009 at 17.00
