Report from the World Water Forum Published: 1.4.2009.

On the 5th World Water Forum held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 16th to 22th of March 2009, our project was presented by Stephan von Keitz, project's RTA and Senta Berner, junior partner.

A side event titled “EU Funded Capacity Building and Integrated River Basin Management”  organized in co-operation with the Twinning project Turkey, was held on 17th of March in the Sutluce- Haskoy Hall.

On the side event, the RTAs of Bulgarian, Turkish and our Twinning project presented the objectives of their projects, as well as the project's progress and the problems in WFD implementation  in assession country.

The side event was a success: the attendance was high, presentations were highly appreciated and fruitful discussions followed the presentations.

The overall impression of the World Water Forum was that even though there was  interest and the opportunity,  no crucial topics were discussed and no big improvements were agreed on. For full personal impressions from our experts please read the report.

Additionally, Mr. von Keitz held 2 presentations as part of German delegation:

  1. presentation on "Twinning as an instrument of cross-border cooperation in water sector" on Wednesday, 18. March 2009
  2. presentation on "Environmental policy- priority setting on the example of the WFD and UWWTD" on Friday, 20. March 2009
